Site History

Noticing that the major focus of most development sites was graphics, and that the A.I. community lacked a focus point, the idea of a site fully dedicated to Artificial Intelligence was starting to brew in Alex's mind. After a few conversations with Kurt about creating a resource collection for each field of develpment, the emphasis of the idea was recentered on resources, news, and community interaction.

His renewed interest for modern A.I. fields such as Neural Networks and Genetic Algorithms, pushed him into Bot Development. The idea for the site derived in to a bot specific site, the Bot Lab. A few days of design, and quickly the potential arose. Renewed interest in the original idea, after completion of his third year project, allowed him to pursue the dream with few time constraints.

Over the summer of 2001, the design of the site advanced at a steady pace, running in parallel with his article for AI Wisdom. The domain was registered in the end of August, the hosting services was contracted, and the process of putting the site online began. This was a surprisingly tedious process, despite the best effots of the support teams.

A small part of the site was put online on the 1st of September, but the rest followed on the 3rd. As resources and content are slowly starting to build up, the potential of this site is starting to show.

Stay tuned for the unfolding of the story!
